I’ve been in a state of sunshine-induced vacation-yearning for the last few weeks. Portland’s endless grey skies tend to do that, but it’s the trade-off I made for access to great coffee and great record stores. Goals for this summer include visiting every single record store in the Portland metro area.
By my count, there are about a dozen that we have yet to visit. If you include our neighbors across the Columbia, there’s a total of about 15. But of course, I have plans to get at least a little bit outside of Portland during the upcoming sunny months. We’ve already cleared out Grant’s Pass when we visited Vinyl Revolutions and Time Machine Records a while back. But there are still a few more in the bottom of the state that we need to pop into, for research purposes, of course.
The good people of Bend, Oregon, apparently spend enough time inside to spin a record every once in a while. It’s got not just one record store but two! So we will be checking out a couple of highly anticipated shops when we head out there for some concerts this summer. There are loose plans to make it up to B.C. this fall as well, which will yield at least a dozen record stores to browse through, so keep your eye out for that as well.
But that’s all in the future. For now, we will be sticking to Portland and drinking elderberry wine while spinning this new Wednesday record I got from their show. Cheers.
