FeeLIT Records- San Diego, CA

The final stop on our sun-kissed road trip took us to the streets of downtown San Diego to check out the small but mighty FeeLIT Records. While many of the record stores we checked out had the feel of surf shops that happened to sell records, FeeLIT has a feel all its own

What to Expect from FeeLIT Records

Downtown San Diego is rarely the image people envision when they think of Southern California. You won’t see too many bikinis or surfboards in this part of the city. Instead, expect suits, office buildings, and the types of restaurants that are perfect for a corporate lunch. This relatively boring setting is one of my favorite parts of FeeLIT Records. It feels like an escape from the grey city streets outside, a world of color and music that offers at least a distraction from our corporate overlords.

Selection at FeeLIT Records

FeeLIT records was probably easily the smallest store we visited in San Diego, but the selection here is nothing to scoff at. Rather than try to do a bit of everything, this store seems to emphasize quality records. The rare record wall alone has more great albums than entire shops that I’ve been to and that was just part of what made the selection here stand out.

Genre-wise, there wasn’t really a specialty, so expect at least a bin to flip through, no matter what kind of music you are after. You can also expect to find something interesting in every bin. Used records and new records are both available here at what I would describe as average prices. This isn’t really a shop you’ll spend hours digging at. Instead, this is where you try your hardest to make friends with the employees so that they show you where the really good stuff is.

Speaking of really good stuff, I was able to nab a copy of Doechii’s Tiny Desk Concert performance, which, even if you are not a huge fan of rap music, I would highly recommend. It’s pretty rare to see bootlegs in record stores these days, especially those that are brand new in shrink wrap still, so that was nice to see.

My Thoughts on FeeLIT Records

FeeLIT is a must stop for collectors in search of rare and unique records. If you are interested in dropping 50+ on a single record, you would be hard pressed to find a better shop in San Diego to spend your money.
